Objective To investigate the correlation between muscle strength and body composition,25 (OH) D3,and BMD,and to explore the different efficacy between strength training associated with basic treatment of osteoporosis and basic treatment of osteoporosis alone. Methods A total of 120 senile patients with osteoporosis were selected. The patients were divided into two groups:Group A and Group B. Patients in Group A were treated with alfacalcidol tablets,while patients with Group B were treated with the strength training associated with alfacalcidol tablets. Before and after treatment,the maximum muscular strength of bench press,weight bearing squat,weight bearing elbow flexion,and grip were measured using a muscular strength detection device. The fat content,lean body mass,and the serum level of 25 (OH) D3 were also detected. The bone mineral density (BMD) of L1-L4 and the left femoral neck was detected using dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry. Results The muscle strength in both groups was negatively correlated with fat content and the percentage of body fat ( - 1 < r <0,P <0. 001),while positively correlated with the lean body mass,the serum level of 25 (OH)D3,and BMD of L1-L4 and the left femoral neck (0 < r <1,P <0. 001). The serum level of 25 (OH) D3 and BMD after the treatment in both groups were higher than those before the treatment (P <0. 001). And the efficacy in Group B was better than that in Group A (P < 0. 05). Conclusion Muscle strength is negatively correlated with the fat content and the percentage of body fat,while positively correlated with the lean body mass,the serum level of 25 ( OH) D3,and BMD of L1-L4 and the left femoral neck. Alfacalcidol tablets is able to improve the serum level of 25 (OH) D3 and BMD. The strength training has the synergistic effect,and the body composition has little change before and after the treatment. |
