Objective To investigate the correlation between osteonectin ( ON ) , type I procollagen amino-terminal peptide ( PINP) , osteoprotegerin ( OPG) , insulin growth factor 1 ( IGF-1) , transforming growth factorβ( TGF-β) , and the bone mineral density ( BMD) of the femoral neck. Methods BMD of the femoral neck was detected using the bone mineral density detector (Hologic Discovery-WA, USA).The serum levels of ON, PINP, OPG, IGF-1, and TGF-βwere detected using automatic enzyme immunoassay analyzer ( Thermo, USA) .All the 913 subjects were divided into different groups according to a 10-year range. All the data were analyzed using a SPSS 13.0 software. Results The serum levels of ON, PINP, IGF-1, and TGF-βin male and female subjects in normal group were significantly higher than those in osteoporosis group, while the serum level of OPG in normal group was significantly lower than that in osteoporosis group (P<0.05).The serum levels of ON, PINP, IGF-1, and TGF-βin females were positively correlated with BMD of the femoral neck (P<0.05), while the OPG level was negatively correlated with BMD of the femoral neck (P<0.05).The serum levels of ON, IGF-1, and TGF-βin males were positively correlated with BMD of the femoral neck ( P <0.05 ) , while the OPG level was negatively correlated with BMD of the femoral neck ( P <0.05 ) . Conclusion The serum levels of ON, PINP, IGF-1, and TGF-βare positively correlated with BMD of the femoral neck, but the OPG level was negatively correlated with BMD of the femoral neck.In the process of bone metabolism, ON, PINP, OPG, IGF-1, and TGF-βcan affect bone mass through their interaction. They have a significant association with BMD of the femoral neck. |
