Tea polyphenol is a general name of polyphenol compounds in the tea. It is the most potent antioxidant currently found, with multi-biological functions. Research shows that tea polyphenol has many pharmacological and healthy effects, such as anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory, antitumor, radioprotective, antihyperlipidemic, and anti-aging. Tea polyphenol has become a hot research topic in the pharmaceutical field. In recent years,some studies have shown that the antioxidant and anti- inflammatory effects of tea polyphenol provide evidence of the prevention and treatment of osteoporosis. This review describes the effect of tea polyphenol on osteoporosis as well as its possible mechanism. |
