On the basis of experiments in vivo and in vitro, experimental research progress in acupuncture and moxibustion treatment on postmenopausal osteoporosis from 2004 to 2014 is reviewed. The bone mineral density, bone histomorphometry, bone biomechanics, bone metabolism, serum estrogen and cytokine are summarized respectively from in vivo experiments, and each index is listed in a chronological order. Acupuncture points, treatment methods, measured indexes and results of the literatures are introduced. From in vitro experiments, experimental research progress in the effect of conditioned serum after acupuncture on the number, bone resorption function and apoptosis of rat osteoclasts is summarized. Based on these, the problems of current researches are pointed out. The problems include the difference of the animal model, the variety of selection of the acupuncture points, and the unknown mechanism of acupuncture and moxibustion treatment on postmenopausal osteoporosis. At last, the research ideas of next step are proposed, in order to offer the reference for related researchers. |
