Objective To analyze the clinical efficacy of Guxi-needle-knife combined with Salmon calcitonin in the treatment of senile osteoporosis. Methods Sixty-six patients with senile osteoporosis were randomly divided into observation group (33 cases) and control group (33 cases). The observation group was treated with Guxi-needle-knife combined with Salmon calcitonin and calcium. The control group was treated with Salmon calcitonin and calcium. Bone mineral density, pain degree, and activity of daily living were measured in the two groups at baseline, 6 months and 12 months. Results Bone mineral density, pain degree, and activity of daily living improved in the control group at 6 and 12 months after the treatment, but the improvements on these measures were greater in the observation group at 6 months (P<0.05), and at 12 months apart from pain degree (P<0.05). Conclusion The clinical efficacy of Guxi-needle-knife combined with Salmon calcitonin in the treatment of senile osteoporosis is very significant, it can quickly relieve pain, effectively improve bone mineral density and activity of daily living, and control osteopenia, which could contribute to reduced risk of pathological fractures. |
