Osteoporosis (OP) is a chronic metabolic disease characterized by reduced bone mass, increased bone fragility and damaged bone structure. Similar to cardiovascular disease, diabetes and cancer which have high prevalence, disability and mortality rate, osteoporosis has already become one of the major public health problems. Therefore, there is no time to delay to build a simple, efficient and systematized model for OP prevention and control in order to maintain and improve of our citizens’ quality of life. In this study, we reviewed the epidemiology, three-level prevention and main preventive measures of OP, and studied the main contents, common patterns and simple screening tools of community-based OP prevention and control both in China and abroad, in order to provide theoretical basis and reference for the further development and improvement of community-based prevention of OP. |
