Objective The aim of this study is to investigate the risk factors of osteoporosis in elderly male people of Han nationality in Wuhan area. Methods A total of 195 elderly male people of Han nationality in Wuhan area were identified from Wuhan No.1 Hospital from February 2015 to October 2016. There were 110 people with primary osteoporosis and 85 patients without osteoporosis in the same period. Multivariate logistic regression analysis was used to analyze the risk factors of osteoporosis. Results Multivariate analysis showed that age (OR1.088, 95% CI 1.033-1.147), high BMI (OR1.319, 95% CI 1.170-1.486), high SBP (OR1.319, 95% CI 1.170-1.486), high FBG (OR1.208, 95% CI 1.001-1.458), and the frequency of AA allelic genotype of Klotho G-395A (OR2.969, 95% CI 1.092-8.068) were independent risk factors of osteoporosis. Conclusion This study reveals that age, BMI, systolic blood pressure, high fasting blood glucose, and Klotho gene play an important role in the pathogenesis of osteoporosis in elderly males of Han nationality in Wuhan. AA genotype of Klotho gene G395A site may be the pathogenic gene of the elderly males of Han nationality in Wuhan. All these factors are important for the treatment of osteoporosis in elderly males with osteoporosis in Wuhan. |
