In recent years, the survival rate of patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) continues to increase, and the quality of life gradually improves. However, the incidence of osteoporosis (OP), as one of its common complications, is increasing year by year, and have brought a heavier burden and pressure to patient's life, family, and society. The cause of osteoporosis caused by SLE is very complicated. In addition to the self-activity factors of the disease proved by traditional research, the use of drugs, metabolic factors, kidney damage, hormone levels, and lifestyle are also involved in the pathogenesis of SLE. In the prevention and treatment process, the standard treatment of the primary disease, especially the rational use of drugs including glucocorticoids is crucial. Combined use of calcium supplementation and vitamin D benefits bone mineralization and increases the calcium content of bone. Rational use of bisphosphonates, cathepsin K inhibitors, parathyroid hormone, denosumab, and other drugs can improve bone strength to some extent and reduce the incidence of fractures. Multi-target role of traditional Chinese medicine for osteoporosis has its unique advantage. In this paper, clinical and recent research progress, mainly on SLE-related risk factors for osteoporosis and prevention and treatment are summarized in two aspects. |
