Objective To analyze the clinical characteristics and prognosis of elderly hip fracture patients complicated with end-stage renal disease, and to investigate the feasibility of surgery and perioperative management strategy of the patients. Methods Study subjects were 34 elderly dialysis patients with hip fracture treated at the Trauma Orthopaedics Department of China-Japan Friendship Hospital from 2013-2016, data retrospectively collected including patients’ general information, blood pressure, hemoglobin, albumin, K+, BMD and complication. Perioperative management strategies were explored. Results Compared with the control group, the preoperative blood pressure, hemoglobin, albumin, electrolyte and BMD of the dialysis group were significantly different (P<0.05). Conclusions Dialysis-dependent patients with end-stage renal diseases are a high risk group receiving hip fracture surgery, but after reasonable arrangement of dialysis program and other support treatment, the orthopaedic operation can be tolerated safely and improve the life quality of patients with good prognosis. |
