Objective To investigate the effects of treadmill exercise with Ginkgo biloba extract on bone mineral density, bone metabolism, blood lipids and antioxidant capacity. Methods Eighty female Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into the ovariectomized high-fat group and the control group, the ovariectomized high-fat group for oophorectomy, the control group for sham operation. For the postoperative ovariectomized high-fat group,high-fat diet was fed, and the control group was fed normally for 6 weeks. Rats undergoing ovariectomy and high-fat feeding were once again randomly divided into model group (M group), Ginkgo biloba group (G group), and exercise group (R group), Ginkgo biloba + exercise group (GE group). The rats undergoing sham surgery and normal feeding were sham-operated groups (S group). After 12 weeks, the rats were placed in metabolic cages and urine samples were collected. Blood samples were taken from the abdominal cavity of rats, and bone density, blood biochemical indicators, and bone metabolism markers were examined. Results In terms of body weight, the body weight of M group was significantly higher than that of S group at 3, 6, 9 and 12 weeks after intervention, P<0.05. The weight of rats in group R, G and GR gradually increased, but at 3, 6, 9, and 12 weeks, they were significantly lower than group M, P<0.05. In terms of bone mineral density and bone metabolism, the BMD and serum estradiol in the M group were significantly lower than those in the R group, the G group, and the S group, P<0.05. The MDA level in group M was significantly higher than that in group S, group R, group G and group GR, P<0.05. The serum OC, ALP, urine DPD/Cre, Ca/Cre and P/Cre in group M were significant higher than S group, R group, G group and GR group, P<0.05. The levels of CAT and GSH-PX in group M were significantly lower than those in group S, group R, group G and group GR, P<0.05. The levels of blood TG and TC in group M were significantly higher than those in group S and R. Group, G group and GR group, P<0.05. Conclusion The bone mineral density and estrogen levels, bone resorption and bone turnover , body weight and blood lipid levels, antioxidant capacity of ovariectomized obese osteoporosis rats can be improved by using running exercise with Ginkgo biloba extract or simply ingesting Ginkgo biloba extract. |
