Following the population aging in our country, the elderly population is increasing. Osteoporosis becomes a serious public health and social problem. At the same time, the incidence of male osteoporosis has gradually increased. However, it has not been paid serious attention. Currently, drugs available for male osteoporosis include bisphosphate, parathyroid hormone analogues, nuclear factor-κB receptor ligand (RANKL) activators, sclerostin monoclonal antibody, and selective estrogen receptor modulator (SERMs), etc. Many other new drugs are in clinical trials or in research and development, which are expected to further improve the treatment of male osteoporosis and improve the quality of life. This article briefly describes the types of drugs for male osteoporosis treatment and the mechanism of action of the drugs to improve understanding. |
