Postmenopausal osteoporosis is a metabolic bone disease caused by increase of calcium intake and decrease of bone mass due to decreased estrogen. Fracture is the main discovery pathway of the disease, which seriously affects the physical and mental health of middle-aged and elderly people. At present, the use of Western medicine is mainly calcium, bisphosphonates, bone resorption inhibitors, etc., but the side effects and adverse reactions limit their long-term use. Nowadays, many studies have shown that traditional Chinese medicine effectively increases bone mineral density and reduce bone pain by acting on pathways and targets related to osteogenesis, which has unique advantage in the prevention and treatment of postmenopausal osteoporosis. In this paper, the research progress of traditional Chinese medicine and compound prescription in the prevention and treatment of postmenopausal osteoporosis is summarized from the aspects of clinical, animal, and cell, in order to provide reference for clinical prevention and treatment of this disease. |
