Endocrine and metabolic diseases, rheumatic and immune diseases, chronic liver and kidney diseases, and long-term use of glucocorticoid therapy are the common causes of secondary osteoporosis that may occur at any age. With the acceleration of the pace of modern life and the increase of work and study pressure, the incidence of hyperthyroidism increases year by year, especially in young and middle-aged women. Over high level of thyroid hormone leads to disorder of bone mineral metabolism, acceleration of bone loss, and secondary osteoporosis. Hyperthyroidic osteoporosis is often overlooked due to no obvious specific appearance. The illness may cause fractures and bring heavy burden to families and the society. Therefore, it is of great importance to explore the pathogenesis of hyperthyroidic osteoporosis and progress in the prevention and treatment. This article mainly summarizes the relevant literatures in recent five years, and summarizes the research progress of this disease from two aspects of traditional Chinese medicine and Western medicine, so as to arouse people's wide attention, to actively prevent the occurrence of secondary osteoporosis, and to delay the disease progress. |
