Objective To investigate factors associated with lumbar spine bone mineral density (LSBMD) in postmenopausal women. Methods A total of 212 postmenopausal women were included in the study. Their concomitant diseases, LSBMD, bone metabolism, blood biochemistry, and sex hormones were collected and analyzed for independent factors associated with LSBMD in postmenopausal women. Results It was found that serum osteocalcin (β=-0.003, P<0.01) , body mass index (BMI, β=0.021, P<0.01), chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD, β=-0.153, P<0.01), and serum uric acid (β=0.001, P<0.05) were independent factors associated with LSBMD in postmenopausal women. Conclusion Strategies including active prevention and treatment of COPD, the reduction of serum osteocalcin level, and the maintenance of reasonable uric acid and BMI may be effective to improve LSBMD in postmenopausal women. |
