Objective To compare the national and international research status and hot spots of male osteoporosis in recent five years. Methods The core collection database of China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) and Web of Science (WOS) was used as the data source, and the visual analysis software Ctiespace, v. 5.6.r1 was used to analysis the literature about male osteoporosis in recent 5 years. Results A total of 552 Chinese literature and 3,632 English literature were enrolled. Major countries in the field of male osteoporosis research included the United States, the United Kingdom, France, and Australia. The main journals were Journal of Bone and Mineral Research, Osteoporosis International, and Bone. Compared to abroad, there was a lack of cooperation between the domestic institutions and between the authors. Based on the research in etiology, risk factors, laboratory examination, imaging examination, therapeutic drugs, and fracture risk assessment of osteoporosis, the national and international studies focused on drug therapy, disease screening and fracture risk assessment in male osteoporosis. In terms of osteoporosis prevention and fracture risk assessment, the research direction was roughly the same. On drug treatment, foreign research on new anti-osteoporosis drugs was more in-depth than domestic research. Conclusion In the future research on male osteoporosis in China, the cooperation among multiple centers, institutions, and authors is beneficial in the development of the research field. At the same time, osteoporosis fracture evaluation, prevention, and new anti-osteoporosis drugs should be further studied. |
