Objective To summarize the application of electric stimulation therapy in osteoporosis (OP) for better clinical guidance. Methods The relevant reports of call-stimulation therapy in OP in recent years were searched, including the treatment mode, specific parameter selection, treatment site and time intensity. Results There are more basic studies on the application of electrostimulation therapy in OP than clinical studies. Common treatment modes include pulsed electromagnetic fields, electroacupuncture therapy, direct current, capacitive coupling, and transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation. There is no fixed treatment and frequencies maybe more important, but the best frequencies are still controversial. The treatment site mainly focuses on muscle, nerve, acupoint and so on. The duration of treatment was usually three to five times a week, lasted for one or three months. Conclusion The application of electrical stimulation in OP is effective, but there is no fixed parameter scheme, and more basic and clinical studies are needed. |
