| Objective To investigate the effects of Qilu Zhubi Capsule on bone mineral density, balance ability and risk of fall and fracture in patients with liver-kidney yin deficiency type postmenopausal osteoporosis. Methods Seventy patients with liver-kidney-yin deficiency type postmenopausal osteoporosis who attended the Second Hospital of Zhejiang University of Traditional Chinese Medicine from June 2024 to December 2024 were randomly divided into a control group and a treatment group, with 35 patients in each group. The control group was treated with triple combination of alendronate tablets + osteotriol gel pills + calcium carbonate D3 tablets, while the treatment group was treated with Qilu Zhubi Capsules on top of the control group, comparing the bone mineral density, balance ability, fall risk and incidence of fall and fracture of the patients in the two groups. Results (1) During the study period, 4 patients in the control group and 5 patients in the treatment group fell off, and finally a total of 61 patients completed the study; (2) Before treatment: all the observations were similar in the two groups (P>0.05); (3) After treatment: ① Bone mineral density: after 6 months of treatment, the T-value of bone mineral density of the two groups were significantly higher than that of before treatment (P<0.05), and the comparison between the groups found that it was higher in the treatment group, but the difference was not statistically significant (P>0.05); ② Balance: after 3 and 6 months of treatment, the balance test scores of both groups were significantly improved compared with the pre-treatment (P<0.05), and the improvement of balance was better in the treatment group after 6 months of treatment (P<0.05); ③ Risk of fall: except for the control group after 3 months of treatment, all the fall efficacy scores were significantly higher compared with the pre-treatment (P<0.05), and after 6 months of treatment, the reduction of fall risk in the treatment group was more obvious (P<0.05); (4) Incidence of fall and fracture: during the treatment period, the control group suffered 8 falls (25.81%) and 2 fractures (6.45%); the treatment group suffered 5 falls (16.67%) and 1 fracture (3.33%). Conclusion Qilu Zhubi Capsules combined with western medicine treatment can effectively enhance patients' bone mineral density, improve balance, and reduce the risk of fall and fracture. |
