| Postmenopausal osteoporosis (PMOP) is a disease of bone metabolism caused by decreasing levels of estrogen. Estrogen deficiency not only directly disrupts bone homeostasis, but also affects bone metabolism through the gut-immune-bone axis, which mediates the imbalance of Th17/Treg cell dynamics. In the absence of estrogen, the gut microecology and its metabolites, the core component of gut flora, undergo characteristic alterations, can modulate the ratio of Th17/Treg cells through various mechanisms, influencing the occurrence and progression of PMOP. This article systematically explores the molecular mechanisms by which intestinal microecology regulates the imbalance of Th17/Treg cells in PMOP, aiming to provide new insights for the precise prevention and treatment of PMOP. |
